Neocons Hate When Americans Travel To Russia

Our friend Andrew Korybko wrote recently about Candace Owens' invitation to speak at Russia's St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and why it was considered controversial in Russia (she's a polarizing figure who has promoted some stupid conspiracy theories such as the First Lady of France being a man). That said, Candace did manage to expose the ignorance of American neocons on Russia, even if that wasn't her intention.

After posting about the beauty of a church she visited in Russia, Candace got attacked by some American pundits for portraying Russia as Christian. She pushed back, contrasting those pundits' attitudes toward Russia and Israel:

The full text of her post there:

The spirit of Christianity does not exist beneath a yarmulke, kissing a wall in a city where religious leaders teach their children to spit upon those who worship Jesus Christ.

It would therefore be my distinct honor to become “the bridge” that unites Christians in the East with Christians in the West.

Moscow was one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to and I will return.

Thank you to the Russian people for the warm welcome.

Presumably, this is what prompted Dr. Rebecca L Heinrichs of the neocon Hudson Institute to attack Russia as an un-Christian nation on Mark Levin's Fox show, based in part of its "record-breaking abortions".

The full text of her post:

Right-coded podcasters went to Russia to lie to Americans, and especially to Christians-- to confuse them and try to convince them that our ally Israel is the bad actor and Russia is the "Christian nation."

Russia has:

- little to no real due process

- recording breaking abortions

- very weak protections and safeguards for women and children

Like many American pundits, Heinrichs' picture of Russia appears to be quite dated. I responded from my personal X account that Russian abortions have in fact plummeted this century.

She responded with some squid ink, and another dated take on Russia as a land of rising alcoholism, when that's plummeted as well this century.

Even if you hate Russia and consider it adversary, you ought to at least know something about it about it if you're getting paid to talk about it. Pretty embarrassing for Dr. Heinrichs and her employers.

The reality is that Russians' quality of life has dramatically improved this century, which is why Vladimir Putin remains popular there, despite the consequences of the current war (sanctions, drone attacks on Russia, etc.).
