President Trump took to Truth Social overnight to attack Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed and the second Dan Sullivan on Alaska's ballot, hours before polls opened in two Senate races that could decide control of the chamber.

At 12:52 a.m. Eastern, Trump wrote, "Abdul El-Sayed Hates Jews and Hates Blacks. Don't feel bad, he also Hates Whites." The post goes on: "Only fools would vote for him in the Michigan race for the U.S. Senate! He will, 100%, do you in! VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS."

Right now Rogers is trailing, if one is to believe the polls: a Glengariff Group poll for WDIV and The Detroit News, taken Oct. 19 to 22 among 600 likely voters, had El-Sayed ahead of Rogers 51.4% to 45.1%, with a margin of error of 4 points. Two days before the vote, Rep. Haley Stevens, who lost the August primary to El-Sayed, endorsed Rogers, and her congressional staff has reportedly quit.

Twenty minutes later, at 1:12 a.m., Trump turned to Alaska, in all caps: "FAKE ALASKA CANDIDATE DANIAL J. SULLIVAN, JR., IS MISSING IN ACTION! HE HAS TOTALLY DISAPPEARED, GONE! NOBODY HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND HIM." He continued: "MAYBE HE HAS BEEN "KIDNAPPED" BY THE CORRUPT DUMOCRAT LAWYERS??? THEY ARE SCARED STIFF OF BEING PROSECUTED FOR ELECTION FRAUD!!!"

Daniel J. Sullivan is a retired Petersburg schoolteacher running as an independent against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. After taking 2.5% of the vote in the primary, Republicans nicknamed him "Decoy Dan." CBS News reported Friday that he had left his hometown, and a resident and former student saw him on a flight to Anchorage on Monday.

The Setup

The New York Times reported Oct. 28 that operatives around Mary Peltola's Democratic campaign spent months looking for a second Dan Sullivan to put on the ballot, and the Peltola campaign denies recruiting anyone. Alaska's governor has ordered a criminal investigation into the Peltola campaign.

On Sunday a federal judge threw out the Justice Department's lawsuit seeking to stop Alaska from certifying its Senate race if the incumbent loses, ruling the government lacked standing, as we reported. Trump's "election fraud" line in the post is the latest turn in that fight.
