At the end of 2025 and throughout this summer (before and after SpaceX's IPO), we laid out for readers how to trade the emerging space economy, ranging from orbital data centers and SpaceX's first-mover advantage to an Asia-focused space-economy basket. This remains a multiyear play, but the space economy could dramatically accelerate once Starship enters commercial service.
A successful large-scale launch system such as Starship would dramatically reduce the cost of moving payloads into orbit, expand the universe of commercially viable applications, and provide the infrastructure backbone needed to power the space economy.
