Rogue AI Agents Are Here—And Cyber Stocks Are Exploding
AI’s new picks and shovels
The weekend AI warnings changed the cyber narrative. Anthropic’s Dario Amodei warned that, within six to 12 months, rogue AI-agent swarms could potentially create a persistent botnet, compromise large parts of the internet and cause hundreds of billions of dollars in damage. Sam Altman and Elon Musk then backed the call for greater caution.
The market read-through was simple. If autonomous AI makes cyber threats larger, faster and more sophisticated, spending on endpoint, cloud, identity and network security becomes increasingly non-discretionary.
