The Coalition Of The Fringes Cracks

The journalist Steve Sailer memorably described the Democrats' coalition as a "coalition of the fringes"--groups that really don't have much in common with each other, such as affluent liberal Jews, Asians, recent third world immigrants, and inner city blacks. The only way for Democrats to keep them united was to promote practically nonexistent bogeymen such as white supremacists or fascists, or to pretend that the average white American who supports Trump is a white supremacist or a fascist.

The mass rallies in support of Palestinians in the wake of the Hamas attack on October 7th (but before Israel launched its siege of Gaza) have cracked this coalition, as we noted last week, with Jewish business titans like Bill Ackman leading a campaign to withdraw job offers from Hamas-supporting students.

Now, some observers are highlighting the opportunity to drive a metaphorical truck through this coalition, and use its fracturing to roll back leftwing, antiwhite policies.

The Right's Opportunity

The Palestinian-American pundit Richard Hanania made this point in an X post this weekend:

Everyone on the right agrees that the establishment is anti-white now, but that it's tactically more acceptable to criticize them for being anti-Semitic.

Regular conservatives are being smart, understand that whenever you can hurt BLM and campus radicals, it's generally a good thing. Anti-whiteness and anti-Semitism and socialism all come from the same source, philosophy of losers.

Anti-semites on the right though prioritize their dislike of Jews, so sit around sulking, even take the Palestinian side.

Sulking is bad and doesn't get you anywhere. Calling out anti-white discrimination on the right has never been more acceptable, so things are moving in the right direction. But it'll have to ride the coattails of philo-Semitism. This is just reality.

Chris Rufo, arguably the right's most successful activist in recent years, made a similar point in this post on Friday:

And finally, this thread continues the theme.
